Education for all: Reducing Illiteracy in Developing Countries

This talk discusses the continued growth in illiteracy around the world. Many millions are still suffering from inaccessibility to education. What are the possible solution to reduce illiteracy? How can we harness human resources, knowledge and cognitive skills, that even people in the most remote villages have, to help promote literacy? Dinner will be served. Sponsor: Friends of Israel.
Mezcla Presents: Alice Bag

Alice Bag is a punk rock singer, musician, author and feminist archivist of Latin American descent. She is most famous for being a member of The Bags, one of the first bands of the L.A. punk scene. Her performance would consist of passages from her book "Violence Girl" that details her life growing up in East Los Angeles as a woman of color. Additionally, she will perform songs that reflect those passages, following a Q&A session.
