Campus Wireless Upgrade

Campus Wireless Network Upgrade

Project Proposal:

Our existing access points are now (with some exceptions) 5+ years old. It is time to plan their replacement with next generation technology. In particular, Residence Hall wireless coverage needs to be increased in some areas to meet the demands of an increasingly mobile student body.

In Progress: Phase II <Summer 2016>:

We are actively planning a campus-wide refresh of existing access points summer 2016.  Part of this project will feature a significant increase in the coverage within the Residence Halls, while also upgrading the existing access points in other buildings.

Completed: Phase I <Summer 2015>:

Gear to improve the coverage in Bates, Freeman, McAfee and Tower Court as well as the College Club has been installed.  We continue to improve coverage in Residence Halls based on Help Desk tickets to ensure each student has sufficient network access in each Residence Hall room, using small room-based access points, that can better target the desired space.
