Blended Learning Initiative
Over the past four years the Blended Learning Initiative, supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, has facilitated blended learning projects for over fifty courses in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. The initiative encompasses the innovative use of technology in teaching, conversations about the use of technology to support close faculty-student relationships in a liberal arts environment, and the establishment of a long-term organizational support structure for blended learning at Wellesley College. Some activities that the grant supports include the development of new blended learning courses; the creation of blended learning content for existing courses; the organization of workshops, presentations, and round table discussions; funding for faculty conference travel as well as faculty stipends; student research assistance and the purchase of essential materials needed for course development; as well as assessment of the effectiveness of the integration of technology in blended learning courses.
