Yoshimi Maeno and Eiko Torii created a series of authentic videos filmed in Japan and online listening comprehension exercises for the beginning and intermediate levels of Japanese. With assistance from the LTS staff, we also set up a site on SAKAI for the students to record their own videos similar to the authentic video content. The project had an amazing impact on students enhancing their aural-oral skills. In addition, the students learn sociolinguistic aspects of Japanese by watching video clips that are culturally relevant. Furthermore, we joined the staff from the Office of Institutional Research and the Quantitative Analysis Institute to develop assessment tools for the blended learning component in our classrooms.
