Jenifer Bartle
Digital Library Services Librarian

Areas of Responsibility

  • I lead the Distinctive Collections working group, whose charge is to ensure that the College's unique collections -- especially its Archives and Special Collections -- are developed, maintained, and promoted in support of Wellesley College's mission, and to develop policies and procedures to facilitate access to those collections.
  • I manage the Digital Scholarship and Archive, the College's Institutional Repository service. I also serve as a member of the Scholarly Communications Group.
  • I work with the Digital Collections team to create, manage, and promote the use of the College's unique digital assets in digital scholarship, research, teaching, exhibition, and publication.
  • I am a subject specialist and selector librarian for the English, Comparative Literature, American Studies, Cinema & Media Studies, and Asian American Studies departments/programs.

About Me

I hold a BA in English from Pennsylvania State University and an MA in English Language and Literature, with a concentration in modernism and feminist literary theory, from the University of Virginia. I also hold an MSLIS and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Digital Libraries from Syracuse University.

I have been part of Wellesley College's Library and Technology Services staff since 2005. Earlier in my career I worked as a corporate librarian in an energy services consulting firm and as an editor for a group of public relations publications. I also spent seven years as a full-time mother.

I love to cook, read, knit, and travel, and I love the water. If I'm not in Clapp Library, you can probably find me walking around the lake or swimming in the pool (but not the other way around!).
