Jenifer Bartle
Digital Library Services Librarian

Areas of Responsibility

  • I lead the Distinctive Collections working group, whose charge is to ensure that the College's unique collections are developed, maintained, and promoted in support of Wellesley College's mission, and to develop policies and procedures to facilitate access to those collections.
  • I manage the Digital Scholarship and Archive, the College's Institutional Repository service. I also serve as a member of the Scholarly Communications Group.
  • I work with the Digital Collections team to create, manage, and promote the use of the College's unique digital assets in digital scholarship, research, teaching, exhibition, and publication.
  • I am a subject specialist and selector librarian for the English, Comparative Literature, American Studies, Cinema & Media Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies departments.

About Me

I hold a BA in English from Pennsylvania State University and an MA in English Language and Literature, with a concentration in modernism and feminist literary theory, from the University of Virginia. I also hold an MSLIS and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Digital Libraries from Syracuse University.

I have been part of Wellesley College's Library and Technology Services staff since 2005. Earlier in my career I worked as a corporate librarian in an energy services consulting firm and as an editor for a group of public relations publications. I also spent seven years as a full-time mother.

I love to cook, read, knit, and travel, and I love the water. If I'm not in Clapp Library, you can probably find me walking around the lake or swimming in the pool (but not the other way around!).
