How to Identify the Version of Java
You Have on a Windows Computer

 

1.  Windows 7 users:  click on the “Start” button, which looks like this  and is on the left end of the toolbar. 
     Windows 10 users:  click on the "Start" button, which looks like this  and is on the left end of the taskbar.     
     (These bars are normally on the bottom your desktop.)
2.  Click on “Control Panel” (listed in the right-hand column).
3.  Select “View by:  Small (or Large) icons”, then double-click on the "Java" icon to open it.
4.  In the "General" tab, click on the “About...” button.
5.  The "About Java" popup will show the version of Java you have (e.g., "Version 7 Update 71" or "Version 8 Update 144").
6.  Close the "About" window, then click "OK" to close the Java Control Panel, then close the Windows Control Panel.
