Collins Cinema Equipment Instructions

Features:

In the Booth

  • 16mm Film Projector
  • 2 x 35 mm Slide Projectors
  • 2 x 35 mm Film Projectors
  • VCR: For playing back VHS or SVHS tapes.
  • Multi Standard VCR: For playing VHS tapes with PAL, SECAM etc.
  • DVD: For playing DVDs.
  • Region Free DVD: For playing DVDs from various regions.
  • Digital DV/DV-CAM VCR: For playing digital VCR of NTSC and/or PAL format.
  • Blu-Ray DVD: For playing Blu-Ray DVDs or Standard DVDs
  • WCVN: Wellesley College Video Network.
     

On the Floor

  • Mac Computer
  • Region Free DVD: For playing DVDs from various regions.
  • Blu-Ray DVD: For playing Blu-Ray DVDs or Standard DVDs
  • Laptop: Auxiliary Connections for Laptop.
     

AV Controls

A Touch Screen Control Panel is located at the podium in the front of the room and in the booth.

Lights

Select Lights on the Touch Screen Control Panel. to choose a light setting:

  • All on.
  • Dimmed recessed lighting (adequate for note-taking)
  • Dimmed recessed lighting (not adequate for note-taking)
  • All off, except for floor and exit lighting.
     

Volume/Mute

Press the Volume Up or Down arrow button on the right side of the control panel.

Projection Screen

The screen is fixed to the wall.

Turning on the Projector

  • Press the Video Proj button located on the left-hand-side of the control panel.
  • Press the green power On button.
  • Press the gray Return to Main Menu button to return to the main menu.
  • If the projector was off, it will turn on at this point. It may take a minute to warm up.

Projecting from the Mac

Confirm the Mac is on.  On the Crestron Touch-Screen Panel, select Computer.  Below the Mac is an Extron box to switch between desktop and laptop.  Choose Mac.

Projecting from a Laptop

Below the Mac is an Extron box to switch between desktop and laptop.  Choose Laptop.  Connect the laptop to the Extron box on the podium using the VGA cable. On the Crestron Touch-Screen Panel, select Computer

Projecting from the VCR

Insert a VHS tape into the VCR in the rack.  Select VCR on the Crestron Touch-Screen Panel.  Use the touch panel to play, pause, rewind etc.

Projecting from the Multi-Standard VCR

Insert a VHS tape into the multi-standard VCR in the rack.  Select M-VCR on the Crestron Touch-Screen Panel.  Use the touch panel to play, pause, rewind etc

Watching a Channel on WCVN (Cable TV)

On the Crestron Touch-Screen Panel, select WCVN.  Use the touch panel's Chan Up/Down buttons to change channels or enter a specific channel number using the numeric keypad.

Projecting from the Region-Free DVD Player

Select the Wall S-Video source on the touch-screen control panel.  Locate the Region-Free DVD player on the table by the podium and press the R-DVD button on the box marked Video Switcher.  Place a DVD into the player and use the DVD's remote control to play, rewind, etc.

Projecting from the Blu-ray DVD Player

Select the Wall S-Video source on the touch-screen control panel.  Locate the Blu-ray DVD player on the table by the podium and press the BD button on the box marked Video Switcher.  Place a DVD into the player and use the DVD's remote control to play, rewind, etc.

Show 35mm Slides

  • Press the “Slide” button on the left-hand side of the control panel. One can choose to use a single slide projector or two slide projectors simultaneously.
  • To select a single slide projector, press the Right Only button. To select two slide projectors simultaneously, press the Dual Side-by-side button.
  • When selecting the right or dual side-by-side projectors, press the power On button to turn the projector/s on. To turn off the projector/s, press the power Off button. One can use the control functions (reverse, forward, focus and random access) on the control panel.

Show a 16mm or 35mm Film

Load the film on the Eiki film projector located in the Control Room. Press the “16mm Film” button on the control panel. NOTE: a trained film projectionist is necessary to show a film.

Microphones

  • The installed microphone is located on top of the instructor's podium.
  • Press the Microphone On button located on the lower right-hand side of the control panel.
  • To lower and raise the volume select the voice/volume up/down on the touch-screen control panel.
  • The wireless microphone is located in a black bag underneath the instructor's station.
  • To use it insert the provided battery into the transmitter.
  • Attach the microphone cable to the top of the transmitter
  • Move the power switch from off to pwr, the battery indicator should light up green.
  • Clip the microphone to your shirt collar and move the mute switch from mute to on.
  • To lower and raise the volume select the voice up/down on the touch-screen control panel.
  • To turn off the microphone, press the Microphone Off button on the control panel.
     

Turning the Projector Off

Press the All off button on the touch-screen control panel.
