Create bookmarks for Wellesley's Google Apps for Education
Follow the directions below to create a bookmark so you can access your Wellesley Google Apps account directly, without having to go through the MyWellesley portal.
Chrome homepage
- Click on the three dots on the top right of the browser page and click Settings.
- In the On Startup section, select Open a specific set of pages and click Set Pages.
- If there is a page in the list that starts with login.wellesley.edu, hover over it and click on the X that appears on the right.
- To add the correct page, next to Add a new page, click the Enter Url text field and enter mail.wellesley.edu and click Ok.
- Close the Settings tab.
Chrome bookmark
- Click the three dots on the top right of the browser page and click Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager.
- If you have a bookmark that isn't working, find it, click once to select it, then press the delete key to delete it.
- Right-click in the folder you want to place the new bookmark in and select Add Page.
- In the Name field, type Wellesley Gmail.
- In the URL field, type mail.wellesley.edu and press Enter to create the bookmark.
Firefox homepage
- Click the three-line button on the top right of the browser and click Preferences.
- If multiple pages open when you launch Firefox:
- Scroll through the Homepage field and look for a website address that starts with login.wellesley.edu and delete it.
- Add the website http://mail.wellesley.edu to the list, remember to include the | character between the other pages and this one.
- If only one page opens when you launch Firefox:
- If the one page is login.wellesley.edu, delete it and enter http://mail.wellesley.edu instead.
- If you wish to add Wellesley Gmail as an additional page, at the end of the current website listed, enter the | character then type http://mail.wellesley.edu.
- If no pages launch when you open Firefox and you want it to open Wellesley Gmail:
- Set 'When Firefox starts to 'Show my home page'.
- Enter http://mail.wellesley.edu as your home page.
- All changes are saved automatically, so after changing the home page you can close the Preferences tab.
Firefox bookmark
- Next to the search field in the browser, click the notepad icon to the left of the star icon, and select Show all bookmarks.
- A new Library window should appear.
- To change an existing bookmark:
- Find the bookmark that you typically use to access Wellesley Google Apps and click once on it to select it.
- You should see the details of the bookmark at the bottom.
- Replace the text in the Location field with http://mail.wellesley.edu
- To create a new bookmark:
- Open the folder where you want to put the bookmark, right-click in an empty area in the right pane and select New Bookmark.
- Enter a name, such as Wellesley Gmail.
- Enter http://mail.wellesley.edu as the Location and click Add.
- You can now close the Library window
