endnote

What is EndNote?

EndNote is software that can help you:
  • Store your references and link them to your PDF files
  • Organize your references into Groups
  • Create bibliographies
  • Work with Microsoft Word to format your in-text citations and references
  • Allows you to switch between hundreds of reference styles, with the touch of a button

Where can you find this software?

Endnote is installed on classroom and lab Mac and Windows computers across campus. Faculty, staff and students can also install it on your college-owned or personally-owned computers while you are affiliated with the College.

How do you install EndNote?

  1. Check to be sure your computer can run EndNote (https://endnote.com/product-details/compatibility/)
  2. Make sure your computer is on the Wellesley College campus network.
On campus, connect to the Wellesley Secure Wi-Fi.
If you're off campus, you'll need an internet connection and the VPN.
  3. Copy the appropriate installer to your computer's desktop:
    1. Connect to the academicstore server - it can take a minute to connect:
      • on a Mac, in the Finder's Go menu, Connect to server, smb://academicstore/software, press Enter
(Got an error? try academicstore.wellesley.edu instead of just academicstore)
      • on a Windows PC: use windows home icon Start or Run, then type \\academicstore\software, press Enter
(Got an error? try academicstore.wellesley.edu instead of just academicstore)
    2. After a minute, log in when prompted using your Wellesley username and password
(you may need to enter wellesley\username instead of just your username)
    3. Open the folder containing the installer: facstaffstudents, then endnote
It may take a moment for the folders to appear
    4. Open the 20 folder
    5. Drag the text file containing the licensing information to your computer's desktop
    6. Drag the Mac or Windows folder to your computer's desktop
    7. Watch the progress of the copy, which will take longer on some computers, as that installer is large
  4. When the copies are complete, locate the EndNote installer on your computer's desktop and run it
    1. In the Mac folder, double-click on the DMG file
    2. In the Windows folder, double-click on EXE file
  5. Double-click on the text file you dragged to your desktop, ready to copy licensing information from it for the installation
  6. To install EndNote, follow the instructions on the screen, and copy and paste the license if prompted for it during the install or the first launch of EndNote.
