Many of our installers are located in the Software share on the academicstore server.

If you have problems accessing an installer, you may be directed here for some troubleshooting tips.

Be sure to circle back to the main instructions for the installer you're trying to access after reviewing these tips and successfully connecting!

  • Windows 11?
  1. Open File Explorer
  2. Click on This PC
  3. Click on the 3 dots in the top right
  4. Select Map network drive
  5. In the Folder field, type \\academicstore\software
  6. Select Connect using different credentials
  7. Make sure Reconnect at Signin is NOT checked
  8. Click Finish
  9. When prompted to enter network credentials, select More choices and Use a different account
  10. Use "wellesley\username" (not your email address) and your Wellesley password
  11. Wait a moment to make sure there is no error message and you see the Software share, and go back to the software install instructions to carefully follow the remaining steps to get and install that particular software; most have special instructions about licensing
    If this didn't work, check the remaining tips and see if any of them help you, and if you still need help, reach out to our Computing Help Desk for assistance 
  • Off campus? Make sure you're using the Wellesley VPN!
  • On campus? Is the computer on the Wellesley Secure WiFi? (This won't work on Wellesley Guest)
  • Do you use a VPN? On campus: another VPN will prevent this connection; off campus, must use Wellesley's Cisco AnyConnect VPN
  • Try entering academicstore.wellesley.edu instead of just academicstore where you put the server name
    • For example, smb://academicstore.wellesley.edu/software
  • If you're using a web browser, such as Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, please circle back to the instructions and follow them carefully to get to this server; it cannot be accessed from a web browser
  • When prompted to log in to the software share on academicstore
    • make sure it's not using your computer login's username, it must be your Wellesley username
    • try wellesley\username (putting in your Wellesley username instead of typing username)
    • make sure you enter your Wellesley password
    • if it's not obvious how to change the username, look for something like More Choices
  • Don't see the folder in Software? Try making the window larger, and check for a scroll bar 
  • Check your computer's DNS settings, and, if you're using a firewall on your computer, you may need to open up your firewall settings. For example, Bitdefender on Windows 10: How to add a network exception in Bitdefender 2019
