Thanksgiving Break a Chance to Pause for Breath—and a Good Read

November 27, 2013

Even as November winds pull the last leaves from the trees, a calm falls over campus while students take a last longish break and a deep breath before December’s acceleration into finals and the end of the Fall semester.

If you have a little downtime this week or weekend, we have recommended reading for you. The Fall 2013 Wellesley magazine from the Alumnae Association has recently been released in print, and is available to read online.

In addition to a message from President Kim Bottomly, a feature on Wellesley’s beloved canine fixtures of the past and present, and innumerable short articles about the College and alums, you can read thoughtful long form features exploring what it means for a woman to be a religious leader today (and meet seven Wellesley women who are pioneers in their own communities, from the first ordained female moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to the chair of a Zoroastrian hospital) and what impact the historic Supreme Court decisions related to same-sex marriage has had on families, in the cover story, “Getting to ‘I Do’”.

Reading the magazine, visiting Wellesley’s Facebook page, and appreciating the vibrant on-campus life, we take this pause in the usual headlong schedule to realize and say: We're thankful for a strong community that clearly cares about Wellesley.
