Wellesley-in-Chile

Wellesley students have the option of directly enrolling in seven different universities in two distinct study abroad locations - Santiago and Valparaíso. Each has its own unique local flavor, and oftentimes its own climate.

Students on the program come in at the intermediate-advanced level of Spanish and are commited to developing their language skills. By adhering to the Middlebury Language Pledge®, they reap the benefits of linguistic immersion for the duration of their time studying abroad. By living and studying with Chileans and involving themselves in the community through volunteer work, internships, and extracurricular activities, they have the chance to build authentic relationships and integrate fully into life in their host city.

Santiago: Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (includes Food Studies Track), Universidad de Chile, Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Students can directly enroll in humanities or social science courses there, or partake in either the Human Rights Track or Social Movements Track)

Valparaiso: Universidad Adolfo Ibanez, Universidad Andres Bello (includes Applied Studies in Health Track for students with a background in biology, chemistry, pre-med, or other life sciences), Universidad de Playa Ancha, Universidad de Valparaiso, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso (includes Food Studies Track)

Housing: Arrangements for accommodations in local homes are made by the staff of the School in Chile. Chile students pay their homestay families on a monthly basis throughout the semester.
Cost: Students are responsible for paying tuition to Wellesley. Middlebury will charge students only for room & board. Financial aid will be recalculated based on anticipated living expenses abroad.
Pre-Requisites: Students must have completed a minimum of two years of college-level Spanish plus one content course in Spanish (or the equivalent), with at least a B average in Spanish, a B average in their major, and a B- average overall.
