Grace Callahan

Paulson Initiative Intern

Grace is a senior biology major at Wellesley (go green class of 2021!). Born and raised in coastal Maine, her interest in the environment grew out of spending time in the woods, waters and rocky beaches of her home state. She is particularly interested in marine ecology and dedicated to understanding and protecting ocean ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Grace has been able to pursue her passion for watery landscapes at Wellesley by traveling to Lake Baikal in Siberia, working in a marine ecology lab, and spending countless hours pretending to do school work while actually just lounging on the shores of Lake Waban. She also played for the Wellesley Whiptails ultimate frisbee team and worked at Punch’s Alley Co-op until being sent home because of COVID-19, and she misses these communities every day.

As a Paulson Initiative intern, she hopes to learn about decolonization especially in the context of Wellesley’s campus, and work to foster thoughtful and genuine engagement with place and environment for students both on and off campus.
