Flavia Mendonca de Sousa

Flavia has served as a Laboratory Specialist in the Department of Biological Sciences since 2016, where she manages and supports daily operations for teaching laboratories, ensuring safety compliance and effective student training. She holds both a Master’s and a PhD in Biochemistry from the Universidade Federal do Ceará in Brazil, where her research focused on lectins as plant biomarkers and their potential applications in agricultural pest control. Her technical expertise spans biochemistry, molecular biology, cell culture, and plant biology. Originally from Brazil, Flavia has lived in the United States for over 25 years. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, sharing a love of nature, music, and cinema.
