Fall 2020:

  • Term 1: August 31st - October 13th

Classes will be offered On Campus, Remotely, and as a Hybrid (combination of On Campus students and Remote students). These are the approved standard schedule meeting blocks.

Spring 2020 Midterm Grades

As part of the transition to remote courses that took place this semester, we have implemented a one-time midterm grade process for Spring 2020. Midterm grades provide an assessment of a student’s progress toward meeting the learning goals of a course as of 3/13/2020 (when the College transitioned to remote courses). These grades are informational only and do not count toward the GPA and are not part of the official transcript.

What Grades Are Valid as Midterm Grades?

Midterm grades include letter grades (A - F) as well as the following non-letter grades:

S (Satisfactory progress)

U (Unsatisfactory progress)

MCR (credit in a course graded as mandatory credit/ noncredit - the equivalent of ‘S’)

MCRD (credit with distinction in a course graded as mandatory credit/ noncredit)

MNCR (noncredit in a course graded as mandatory credit/ noncredit - the equivalent of ‘U’)

Do All Courses Have Midterm Grades?

Not all courses have midterm grades.  Courses taken at Wellesley that carry academic credit toward the degree have a midterm grade. PE courses that satisfy the Physical Education requirement and cross-registered courses taken at other campuses (Babson, Brandeis, MIT and Olin) do not have midterm grades. Many Wellesley faculty elected to give all students midterm grades of S because they did not feel they had enough work on which to base a letter grade.  The Registrar does not have additional information about student performance in those courses.

Do Midterm Grades Count in the GPA?

Midterm grades are informational only. They do not count in the cumulative grade point average (Cum GPA).

How Do I Access My Midterm Grade Report?

A student’s midterm grade report is available through Workday. Step by step instructions are:

  • Log into Workday.
  • Click on the search bar in Workday (at the top of the page when you first open Workday) and search for ‘Maintain My Student Documents’
  • The next page will show you a list of documents available to you.  Click on ‘Spring 2020 Midterm Grades’.
  • Click on the link labeled ‘Spring 2020 Midterm Grades’ on the right hand side of the page under Attachments
  • The Midterm Grades document will open in a new browser tab.
  • Students have the option to view, print, and download the document as a pdf file.
May I share my midterm grade report with others?

Students may, at their discretion, share their midterm grades with others. Through Workday, students have the option to view, print, and download the document as a pdf file.

Will my Midterm Grade Report automatically become a part of my transcript?

No. After 6/15/2020, each time an official transcript is requested, the requestor will be prompted to indicate whether or not to include the spring 2020 midterm report.

Spring 2020 Academic Course Final Grades:

All courses this semester, including independent studies and senior theses, will be converted to mandatory credit/non grading status. For more information, see Academic Policies and Calendar for the Rest of the Semester.

Spring 2020 PE Courses:

Term 4 PE courses are cancelled. Students enrolled in semester-long PE courses will be eligible to earn 2 PE credits for the portion of these courses if they were successfully meeting the requirements of the course when these courses ended on 3/13/2020.

Summer 2020 - Transfer of Credit:

Only for Summer 2020: Wellesley College will accept transfer credit for remote/distance learning and online courses taught at other institutions. For more information, please refer to the Transfer of Credit Guidelines.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are not eligible for transfer.
