Wintersession 2021 Registration
Eligibility for On-Campus Winter Course Registration:
Students currently enrolled on campus or abroad are eligible to register for Winter on campus courses. Students on leave of absence in Fall 2021 are not eligible to enroll in Winter.
Course offerings are now available in Workday and on the Course Browser.
Registration Dates
- Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM - Registration for Wintersession courses begins.
- Wednesday, November 17 at 11:59 PM - Deadline to register for students who need on-campus housing. After this date, courses with low demand may be cancelled. Students who register after this date are not eligible for on-campus housing.
- Wednesday, January 4 at 11:59 PM - Deadline to register for a Wintersession course
MIT IAP Registration
Due to a change in MIT’s cross-registration policy, cross-registration at MIT during Wintersession/IAP is no longer available as of Fall 2020.

Wintersession 2021 Housing
Housing Eligibility: Winter housing eligibility and details can be found in the October 29th Dean of Students’ memo. Students who are eligible to apply for winter housing can visit the Housing Portal to request winter break and/or Wintersession housing. The deadline to submit a winter housing request is Wednesday, November 17 at 11:59 PM.
Billing: There is no tuition charge for students taking an on-campus course during Wintersession. All students residing on campus are required to participate in the on-campus room and board plan at a cost of $1,035. For students doing approved research on campus including senior theses or participating in approved College programs such as Albright Institute and varsity athletics, the sponsoring department will be responsible for covering the cost of a room and board waiver for all participating students. For all other categories of students, a $1,035 waiver will be applied to cover the full cost of room and board if you received need-based grant aid during the Fall 2021 semester.
