The town of Wellesley (aka “the Vil”) is a short walk from campus. It has a pharmacy, bookstore, coffee shops, and restaurants.
If you want to shop at a mall, see a movie on the big screen, hike in the woods, or bike local rail-trails, you’ll find all that and more in the towns around Wellesley.

Wellesley shuttles
Head to Cambridge and Boston on weekdays for free on the MIT Exchange Bus and on Friday nights and weekends on the Senate Bus, which costs $3 a ride.
The Wellesley-Olin-Babson shuttle travels between the three schools. The Natick Movie/Mall shuttle goes to Natick and Framingham.
Commuter rail
The Wellesley Square stop of the MBTA Commuter Rail is just past the first block of the Vil. You can buy tickets on the train with cash or use the MBTA mTicket app. For $8, the train will take you to Boston. There you can catch the subway—known as the T—which is $2.40 per ride to stops in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville.
Zipcar
If you need a car every now and then, renting a Zipcar is a great option. There are seven Zipcars parked on the Wellesley campus, which you can rent by the hour or day (with gas and insurance included).
