Karen Shih

Assistant Dean of Intercultural Education and Advisor to Students of Asian Descent

Karen Shih (She/Her/Hers) is the Assistant Dean of Intercultural Education and Advisor to Students of Asian Descent. In her role, Dr. Shih partners with student life colleagues and faculty to develop multicultural programs and consults on campus-wide initiatives, provides leadership for ensuring the quality of experience for students of Asian descent by implementing and assessing programs and services. 

Currently, she coordinates the Inclusion Initiative, a peer facilitator program to provide social justice education on campus.

She was born and raised in Taiwan, and held several teaching and administrative positions in colleges and universities before coming to the United States to pursue counseling as a profession.

Karen has a Bachelor of Business and Accouting from Taiwan University, a Master of personnel in Higher Education from the University of Georgia, and Ph.D. in Counseling and School Psychology from University of Massachussetts Amherst. 

Karen enjoys taking walks with her dog Winston, who can be seen around Acorns House and has become the house's mascot.
