Emma Couch Cameron '22 Garden

Cameron Garden

The courtyard garden adjoining the Botanic Gardens' Visitor Center was established in 1992 by Diana Cameron Pierce '53.

he wished to establish a garden for the disabled in memory of her mother, Emma Couch Cameron '22, who lost her sight near the end of a long life devoted to horticulture. The garden, designed by landscape planner and Friends docent Dorothy Dudley Thorndike CE '75, includes sensory plants with scent and tactile appeal, set in beds enclosed by curving pathways. During warmer months, outdoor seating in this area makes it a favorite spot for al fresco lunches, meetings, and socializing.
