In 2014, Asmaa Albukaie became the first Syrian refugee in Idaho.
Since, she has been a vocal advocate for refugees, working to dispel myths and educate people about Muslims, the United States vetting process for refugees, and the role of immigrants and refugees in America. She has appeared on NPR and numerous Idaho news sites and stations, and she has given a TED talk on her experiences as a Syrian refugee.
