Coco Plasencia
Coco is a senior double majoring in Biological Sciences and Anthropology.

In the summer of 2023, she conducted research at the Mayo Clinic, where she used machine learning technologies to analyze microbial biomarkers for gynecologic and obstetric risk. On campus, Coco is a lead research assistant in the Tetel lab investigating the effects of lifestyle choices on the gut and vaginal microbiomes. She is also the President of the Sexual Health Educators and a Peer Career Mentor for pre-health students in Career Education. Coco is proficient in Spanish and has recently begun learning Portuguese. Her goal upon graduation is to work for a global health non-profit or community health initiative centered around family planning and reproductive health, preferably in Latin America.
