Yuxi is a junior from Hunan, China majoring in environmental studies and anthropology.

She is passionate about creating ways to motivate and help enable more people to live an engaged and sustainable life. In the summer of 2016, Yuxi interned at Rare, promoting organic agriculture development in Hubei, China. Her interest in the intersection of food, agriculture, and sustainability led her to work at an online farmers’ market in Shanghai in the summer of 2017. Yuxi is spending the Fall 2018 semester in Cambodia, where she is studying and researching conservation and development issues from the field. On campus, she has worked as a Thorndike Intern at the Botanic Gardens and as a sustainability intern with Wellesley Fresh, focusing on initiating campus-wide engagement activities like the “Hug a Tree” campaign, “Adopt a Tree” program, and the “Dissues” dish-return campaign. Now and in the future, Yuxi hopes to learn, organize and educate from within communities to find sustainable and joyful ways for people and nature to thrive together.
