MIT Exchange Bus

The Wellesley-MIT Exchange Bus provides transportation between Wellesley and MIT on weekdays for Wellesley and MIT students, faculty and staff ONLY. The Exchange Bus picks up and drops off at the Chapel, Alumnae Hall, 350 Massachusetts Ave, Building 34 on Vassar Street, Kendall T Stop on Main Street, 77 Massachusetts Avenue (the MIT Student Center), and at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. Click here for a map of the MIT campus.

Wellesley and MIT cross-registered students have boarding priority on the Exchange Bus. To ride the Exchange Bus, a current Wellesley College or MIT ID card is required. Due to COVID, guests are not permitted on the Exchange Bus or Senate Bus. The College will revisit this policy if at a later date students are permitted to have guests indoors on campus. In a regular year, guests of Wellesley students who wish to ride the Exchange Bus must present a ticket or token to the bus driver before boarding.

Current faculty and staff of Wellesley College and MIT must purchase a ticket/token/punch pass (each way) in order to ride the Exchange Bus.  Faculty and staff need to show the bus driver their current id.

Tokens are for sale in the Campus Center and in Stone Davis Hall for $3.00 each.  Punch Passes (10 rides) are available at the Leaky Beaker and the Bookstore for $30.00 each. There are two token machines in the Campus Center ATM area and one in the Stone-Davis laundry room. Tickets are available for purchase in LaVerde's Market in the MIT Stratton Student Center as well.

Scheduled times are only approximate. Please wait for Wellesley's buses ten minutes in advance of scheduled times to assure not missing the bus.
