After graduating, Teja worked as a research technician in a pediatric cytogenetics lab at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, TX. Teja started an MD/PhD program at Texas A&M in 2016 where she is currently working in Dr. Jenny Chang's lab at Houston Methodist Research Institute for her Ph.D. studies. Teja is working on targeted therapies for metaplastic breast cancer.

Hello! I am Teja and I am a junior majoring in Neuroscience. I joined the Tetel lab during spring semester of my first year and I plan to continue work in Summer 2012 through the Wellesley College Summer Science Research

Program. I have always been interested in research before coming to Wellesley and worked at Oregon National Primate Research Center of Oregon Health and Sciences University throughout high school.

I have been working with Elizabeth Bless on investigating the interaction between estrogen and leptin signaling in the mouse hypothalamus. We are also planning on investigating whether signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT3) physically associates with estrogen receptors.

I am enthusiastic to learn new laboratory techniques and gain experience with animal work.  I am excited to be a part of this project and I hope to continue working in the Tetel lab throughout my time at Wellesley.
Besides being a part of Tetel lab, I work for Center for Work and Service and I am part of the executive board for Darshana: Wellesley’s Hindu Society. I enjoy playing tennis and dancing Kathak in my spare time!
