I don’t know who I would be if I didn’t go to Wellesley. In economics, that is defined as the counterfactual. Studying economics and peace and justice has changed my life. I’ve had the intellectually stimulating classroom experience promised by a liberal arts education. I’ve had the opportunity to do photography and film work for human rights in Bolivia. Thanks to professors in both departments, I found the courage to pursue both majors. Because of Wellesley, I’ve reconnected with my love for the arts, and found new passions in photography and journalism.
Wellesley has given me unique friends and mentors I wouldn’t have met elsewhere. I’ve also learned that community can be found outside of friendship— I’ve found it in the multi faith community, the Frost Center for the Environment, and the student cooperatives. I feel like I will leave Wellesley with a strong intellectual and social foundation for life.
