Linda Riebel ’67

  • 1960s

I struggled at Wellesley with depression, overeating, and digestive issues. One bright light kept me going. It happened in Roger Johnson’s sophomore Bible class. I had made a presentation in class and he said, “Miss Riebel, you have restored my faith in Wellesley education.” I don't know what factors had discouraged him (maybe the impending cancellation of the requirement?), but that one remark I have cherished for sixty years. Best class for text analysis and critical thinking, too.

My doctorate is in psychology, but I developed an interest in endangered species, and a scholarly paper I published on that in 2012 has been (according to the platform ResearchGate) read over 10,000 times.

And of course, friends! When I finally got married in 2003, three of them flew from the East Coast to California to help me celebrate. We still connect on zoom.
