Looking through a window at trees, flowering bushes, and a brick building (Founders Hall)

The library was always my place. Right in the middle of campus, warmly lit and ready if I needed quiet or a nap or help. I spent many hours there absorbing the details of my favorite call number ranges on the third floor (the E90’s and the HQ’s of course) and watched the seasons change out the big windows as I wrote papers.

When I returned for my interview as a librarian, I wondered if it would feel different being in Clapp years later. It was different, but in the warmest way. I watched students browse books and sit studying. I spoke to other librarians who felt as strongly about supporting the students as I did. When I came back that June for my first day on the job, I sat at my desk and looked out at the tower through the window, excited to serve this time.
