National Institutes of Standards & Technology Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (NIST SURF) - direct application deadline

The National Institute of Standards and Technology - Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (NIST SURF) fully funds summer research opportunities at NIST laboratories in Boulder, CO, or Gaithersburg, MD. The program will be conducted using a hybrid format for Summer 2023, including both in-person and virtual components. Students with biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, materials science, mathematics, nanoscale science, neutron research and/or physics majors are always encouraged to apply; there may be research opportunities for students with other majors.

Amgen Scholars - application deadline

Eligible: programs in Asia are open to citizens of any country, and the program in Canada is for Canadian students/residents—see website for details. Applicants for the U.S. programs must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and currently enrolled sophomores, juniors, or December ’22 grads who are considering a PhD or MD/PhD in a STEM field.

Samvid Scholars - direct application deadline

Eligibility: applicants must be U.S. citizens or DACA recipients with an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher and planning to begin a full-time eligible degree program at a U.S. university in the academic year following application. Eligible degree programs are 2 years or longer, and one of the following: MD, MBA, JD, MPP/MPA, MPH, MS/MA in the social sciences or STEM. (PhD programs are not eligible.)
