Alice C. Cole ’42 Fellow Artist Talk
with lisa banta
Please join the Art Department in welcoming lisa banta to deliver an artist talk as the 2025-2026 Alice C. Cole ’42 Fellow.
lisa banta is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Her work investigates how historical legacies shape present-day social and ecological injustices. Informed by postcolonial theory and lived experience, her practice bridges critical inquiry and material intuition, engaging questions of justice, care, and decolonization across personal, ancestral, and environmental registers. Engaging objects as carriers of memory, grief, and survival through tactile, embodied approaches, her works become vessels of resistance and repair.
banta holds an MFA from California Institute of the Arts and a BFA from Portland State University. She is an enrolled descendant of the Karuk tribe. See more of banta's work here.
