Cantata Singers: Stravinsky's Les Noces
Cantata Singers and The Percussion Collective unite in a program of innovative music for voices and percussion.
The Wellesley College Concert Series is proud to present Cantata Singers, one of Boston’s acclaimed choral ensembles, directed by Noah Horn, in collaboration with The Percussion Collective, the groundbreaking professional ensemble founded by Robert Van Sice.
This dynamic program features innovative works for voices and percussion, including Garth Neustadter’s Memory of Water, inspired by Emmi Itäranta’s novel, paired with Neustadter's Seaborne, a 30-minute multimedia masterpiece created in collaboration with video artist Kjell van Sice and commissioned by The Brookby Foundation, which portrays the majesty of the sea through sound and image.
The centerpiece of the collaborative concert is an electrifying performance of Igor Stravinsky’s Les Noces - a visceral, rhythm-driven celebration of ritual, marriage, and modernism - featuring four pianists from Wellesley College's Music Department. Don't miss this opportunity to hear two acclaimed ensembles uniting to present a rarely-performed masterpiece. Chorus, percussion, and four pianos will resound in Wellesley College's Houghton Chapel.
