Charles B. Fisk: Piano Recital
Professor Emeritus of Music performs a solo piano recital of Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, and Chopin.
A pianist and scholar, Charles Fisk has long combined performance with deep inquiry into the psychological, philosophical, and historical dimensions of music. In both recitals and writing, Fisk explores how listeners and performers experience music not merely as a text, but as a kind of “musical intersubjectivity” - a space of emotional recognition and interpersonal connection.
Now retired from full-time teaching, Fisk served on the music faculty at Wellesley College for over 30 years, where he taught piano, directed the advanced performance seminar, and offered courses in music theory, history, and composer-focused seminars on Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, and J.S. Bach. Performances often accompanied these seminars, including solo recitals and collaborative programs with vocalists and chamber ensembles.
Program:
J.S. BACH: Partita No. 2 in C minor
BEETHOVEN: Sonata in A-flat Major, Op. 26
CHOPIN: Sonata in B-flat minor, Op. 35
