Gallery Talk
a question of imagination and taste gallery talk with director Samara Pearlstein
Whether or not you've already seen the show, join us for a talk with Gallery Director Samara Pearlstein on Oct. 9 to hear more of the stories behind the design, construction, and dramas involved in the creation and life of the Jewett Arts Center. As Wellesley College's first modern building, and architect Paul Rudolph's first major commission, Jewett holds an important place in both architectural and College history. Built to house the Art and Music departments (and formerly Theater), Jewett has long been a home for creative practice and inquiry.
This entire show was created in-house, so the gallery talk will also address the process of making an exhibition like this from idea to research; gathering and creating (or recreating) materials; to exhibition design and install and more. Anyone interested in pursuing gallery or museum work is encouraged to attend!
