The Department of German Studies offers a varied curriculum that includes beginning and advanced language courses, courses on film, culture, and literature.

Our courses introduce the student to a wide range of texts and contexts to acquaint her with the cultural traditions and with the contemporary life of Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland. Language courses emphasize rapid acquisition of communication skills. Because many of our upper-level courses are conducted in German, the advanced student can achieve a high level of fluency.

This website is designed to provide you with information on our faculty, curriculum, study abroad programs, students, alumnae, events, and activities. It also provides you with access to relevant web resources and internal department resources.
