Mika Taga ’22, a studio art major, came to Wellesley with plans to follow a pre-med track and with her college time tightly scheduled. When that plan proved a bit too rigid, she took a two-year leave of absence and returned with a clearer sense of who she was, crediting Buddhist chaplain John Bailes for his guidance. “Looking back, realizing what scared me the most was actually the moments and the places of the most transformative potential,” she says in this video interview. Taga’s artwork will be on display in the Jewett Art Gallery beginning May 6.
