This year, Wellesley received 7,920 first-year applications, the highest number in College history. On March 20, 16 percent of the applicants were offered admission.

Here’s a look at the admitted class of 2025:

They hail from high schools in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, as well as 45 countries outside the United States.

Sixty-three percent are domestic students of color, identifying as African American, Asian American, Latina or Hispanic, Native American, or multiracial.

Twenty-one percent will be the first generation in their families to attend a four-year college.

Eleven percent are international citizens.

Forty-four percent speak a language other than English in their homes.

This was the first year Wellesley made standardized testing optional for applicants. Approximately 60 percent of the applicants chose not to submit test scores, and about half of the admitted students did not submit SAT or ACT scores for review.

Of the students attending high schools that rank, 87 percent are ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes. 96 percent are ranked in the top 20 percent.

Admitted students include those who applied to Wellesley via the College’s valuable partners, QuestBridge and the Posse Foundation, and those who worked with local, community-based organizations that support students in applying to college.

“In a year when so much was unsettled and uncertain, the Office of Admission feels fortunate that so many accomplished and resilient students decided to apply to Wellesley. We are happy to share good news with such an amazing group of high school students,” said Joy St. John, dean of admission and financial aid.

“Although we won’t be able to host admitted students on campus this spring, we look forward to engaging them virtually,” St. John said. “We have already recruited many current students, faculty, staff and alums who are eager to share more details about the Wellesley community online and by email and phone.”
