Interests include Japanese theater, in particular the noh and kyogen, and Japanese classical literature and language.
My research interests include Japanese theater, in particular the noh and kyogen, and Japanese classical literature and language.
I teach classical Japanese language; Japanese theater in performance; the history of Japanese theater; pre-modern Japanese prose and poetry in translation; and Japanese animation.
I am also involved in the development of classical language courses for undergraduates; bringing professional Japanese theatrical performances to Wellesley campus and providing student workshops in Japanese performance; and creating opportunities for internships for students in Japan.
