Vicky Tsai, choosing happiness

  • Alumnae

At Wellesley, economics. After Wellesley, ten years in the corporate world from Wall Street to Starbucks. Which, well, gave her a bad case of dermatitis. So she quit. She describes this decision simply: “I chose happiness.” A trip to Kyoto inspired Tatcha, her luxury skincare brand. She sold her furniture, her car, even her wedding ring, to get it off the ground. Now, it's a beauty store staple and a Room to Read partner. To date, the brand has funded seven million school days for girls around the world. And Vicky's pesky dermatitis? It's all better now. Yeah, choose happiness. Class of 2000.
