When I learned about the supply-demand curve in high school, I knew I’d major in economics in college. Lucky for me, Carolyn Shaw Bell was the chair of the economics department while I was at Wellesley. She was caring and supportive during my Wellesley years and later encouraged my application to graduate schools of business. But by far the best part was that she visited me and my husband some thirty years later when our daughter was in high school and encouraged her to think of herself as an adult and a successful college student. The relationship Carolyn Shaw Bell helped build while I was in college lasted to the next generation. Our daughter joined the class of ’01 and has created her own Wellesley history.
