We met at a square dance on the third day of college at Wellesley—two strangers laughing through the steps, instantly in sync. That night sparked a friendship that’s lasted over 40 years. Only later did we discover our families were already connected—our grandmothers, mothers, even uncles had known each other. Who knew our roots had already begun to intertwine? Since then, we’ve walked through life side by side. We married, raised children, became godmothers to each other’s kids, and stood by one another through every high and low. From fraternity parties to weddings, heartaches to celebrations, our bond has never wavered. What began as a do-si-do turned into a lifelong dance of friendship, love, and shared history. I’m forever grateful for that square dance, and for Ginger—for the laughter, the loyalty, and the life we’ve built together across generations.
