One night of big-little sib bonding, a group of four explored Claflin. They came upon a storage room crammed with excess furniture and forgotten possessions of bygone Wellesley students. Amongst the treasures sat a lavender electric scooter. A child’s toy, but certainly something that could be repurposed to travel across campus in style. The group split the cost of a new battery and agreed to inherit it along big-little lineages.

Joy rides in the residential quad, motoring from the KSC to Bates for meals during Wintersession, whining through throngs of students filing to lessons in Sci, zooming to Tupelo Lane for evening meetings. The purple scooter was recognizable across campus.

It disappeared during Covid. There were rumors as to its whereabouts – who had it last, where it was located. Perhaps one day this iconic lavender scooter will resurface on campus, linking generations of Wellesley students.
