When I can’t fall asleep, I think of the grass on the Wellesley soccer field. It’s fall, of course, and the red, orange, and yellow leaves set the stage like a Zoom background. I’m standing near the center circle—emblazoned with a massive blue ‘W’—and the ref blows the whistle for kick off. My teammates and I begin to pass the ball around. It goes exactly where we want it; the blades are cut in a way that allows that. We are slowly making our way toward our goal. Our small but mighty fans yell, “Go Blue!” My dad and sister are in the crowd, which makes me extra excited when the ball comes to me. I am ready to shoot; I practiced where to aim. But before I do, I calmly, peacefully fall asleep to the memories that are now frozen in time. Was it all a dream?
