How lucky are we for Wellesley and the WCCC?
Up the winding paths shaded by the conifer trees,
speckled by the late afternoon sunlight,
the fallen acorns and leaves,
the students gathering in trios, or couplets, or with their thoughts in the in between.
How lucky are we to entrust our most precious
to the care of those mere lampposts away
from the stone tower and gables–
so close we can still hear the joyous pitter patter of petite toes, the unbridled giggles, the tiny gasps of wonderment at the bees, the geese, and the gravelly sand swept away with the breeze.
How lucky are we
for all parts of our hearts to be cherished and seen at Wellesley,
scaling dewdropped playgrounds, or wrapped in naptime cocoons
after munching on goldfish and cheese,
all while we endeavor to live and learn and to minister and serve.
How lucky are we?
