Over the years, the Wellesley Students Aid Society has helped tens of thousands of Wellesley College students succeed in school and beyond. We provide tuition assistance, short-term emergency loans, and support for necessities such as gift cards for textbooks and clothes to get students through the winter or a job interview. In these and many other ways, WSAS opens the possibility of a Wellesley education to smart, dedicated women of all means.

Success Stories

Many WSAS beneficiaries—as current students, recent graduates, or alumnae—have shared their story with an enclosed note, a post on our Facebook page, or as a presentation at our annual meeting. All of the stories are as unique as the individuals telling them, and yet share the common theme of WSAS support. Below are just a few examples.

  • Isabella Chung

“As I started my undergraduate journey, I found myself astounded by the ways in which I felt supported on campus by the Wellesley Students’ Aid Society.”

Graduating magna cum laude with honors, Isabella Chung ’24 was one of the first college graduates in her family.

  • Sumaiyea Uddin

“… [T]he Aid Society has been a constant source of unwavering support for its students, who otherwise, have nothing to fall back on.”

Upon graduation, Sumaiyea Uddin ’24 continued her education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she concentrated on education in non-traditional settings.

  • Rhoda Tano-Menka

“Discovering the Wellesley College Student Aid Society completely turned my life around at Wellesley.”

A $1,500 housing loan made it possible for Rhoda Tano-Menka ’19 to participate in a Harvard-MGH-MIT internship, during which she conducted cutting-edge research in HIV immunology.

  • Gaylen Stone Tower with leafy trees in foreground

“WSAS helped me survive my sophomore year and has kept me from taking a leave of absence because of money.”

The short-term loan given to Joy Price ’17 enabled her to take an EMT class and get one step closer to entering the professional health field.
