As Wellesley’s hub for environmental engagement, the Camilla Chandler Frost ’47 Center for the Environment cultivates partnerships on and off campus, galvanizing students to be the teachers, researchers, activists, and storytellers who will shape a more just environmental future.

Our goals

  • Catalyze thoughtful solutions to environmental and sustainability challenges

  • Prioritize inclusive excellence

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships

Our partnerships

The Environmental Studies Department is located at the Frost Center. Through interdisciplinary coursework, field trips, internships, and research, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand and address environmental challenges at the local, national, and international level.

Programs and opportunities

Located in the Science Complex, we design programming and support initiatives that engage the whole Wellesley community.

  • Student ambassadors. Our student ambassadors mobilize the community and build awareness of the Frost Center’s initiatives, programs, and opportunities.

  • Group of people listening to a presentation by Jay Turner.

Green Gatherings. Our weekly Green Gatherings bring together any interested members of the Wellesley community to engage in fun activities and learn about environmental opportunities.

  • A line of people examining plants in the outdoor garden on a sunny fall day.

Handprint Symposium. Our annual symposium connects students, faculty, and alums to envision and strategize positive environmental change.

  • Aerial view of the Everglades with a winding river.

Douglas Lecture. Innovative and diverse environmental experts share their insights in this annual campus event, supported by a gift in honor of Marjory Stoneman Douglas ’1912.

  • Bettina smiles while opening a bag of rice during a cooking demonstration.

Paulson-Frost Practitioner Fellows Program. Engineers, journalists, farmers, scientists, activists, artists, or other individuals with experience outside of academia bring their expertise on environmental issues to enhance courses and student-oriented projects. Highlights include cooking presentations in the Food Sciences Laboratory.
