Friends of Art San Francisco: Tour of Oliver RanchSaturday, October 1, 2016 - 12:00pmOliver Ranch, SonomaTour of Oliver Ranch in Sonoma, home to eighteen remarkable site-specific works by world-renowned artists, including Richard Serra and Andy Goldsworthy. Visits to Oliver Ranch are only available through a sponsoring non-profit organization. Wellesley College Friends of Art are very proud to present this opportunity to our members.
"The Olivers were motivated by a love of art, a desire to support artists, and also a wish to circumvent the 'business' of art. Disillusioned with valuation in the world of art collecting, the Olivers decided to commission site-specific installations that could not be moved, and therefore, neither bought nor sold. Under these conditions, the focus would be on the art itself, not its assessment." -- Oliver Ranch Foundation website
