Music Instructor in Voice
As a performer and teacher I firmly believe it is my duty to help others find their voice. I aim to encourage individuality and creativity within my students and strive to give them the courage and confidence to speak up, sing out, and be heard.
With an eclectic range of experience Kristin finds herself hired for a variety of engagements throughout the year. As a singer her talents and training varies from classical styles such as opera, oratorio, and art song, to more contemporary genres such as musical theater, pop, blues, and jazz. Regardless of repertoire Kristin embraces the voice as a living, breathing instrument and celebrates the wide range of sounds it can uniquely produce.
In addition to her work at Wellesley College Kristin has served on the performing arts faculty at Stonehill College as the primary Studio Voice instructor since Fall 2020. She has experience both with one-on-one instruction as well as ensemble settings as she filled in as the interim Collegiate Chorale director for three years. In the summer of 2022 Kristin was chosen as a Teaching Artist Fellow at the Classical Music Institute in San Antonio, Texas and continues to maintain a private studio in addition to her collegiate work. Her teaching passions lie within the ever-evolving pedagogical research of the human voice and she continues to study privately as a student with Carol Mastrodomenico (Longy School of Music, Tufts)
Kristin has made several recent debuts throughout the New England area. She performed alongside Chorus Pro Musica with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9- featured on the esteemed stages of Boston Symphony Hall and Carnegie Hall. In addition to her ensemble work Kristin was the featured Alto soloist with the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra as they celebrated their centennial year with Mozart's Requiem. She has had the opportunity to perform with notable local companies such as: Boston Opera Collaborative, Opera del West, and Emmanuel Music. Kristin will also be making an appearance as a Winter Artist with the world-renowned ensemble, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale.
In previous seasons Kristin spent two summers with the Prague Summer Nights Young Artist Music Festival (Washington D.C. residency) as Marcellina in their production of "Le Nozze di Figaro" and Dritte Dame in "Die Zauberflöte". Her stage and solo work was showcased to directors of Washington National Opera's Young Artist Program, Glimmerglass Festival, and the Castleton Festival.
Kristin has enjoyed work both on and off the stage and continues to grow her interests in more administrative positions within the theatre. Kristin served as Assistant Director with Helios Opera, a Boston-based opera company that facilitated modular opera projects throughout the pandemic. Additionally she has worked with Harvard University's Lowell House Opera as an Assistant Stage Manager.
Even though many of her credentials lie within the classical realm Kristin can be found on Spotify and Apple Music as a soloist on the album, "The Last Rodeo" from local artist, Rosedale Junction. Her single, "Loan Me a Dime" has been quoted as, "the best ever done by a woman.... a female with a powerful, soulful, and emotional voice started belting the hell out of the blues.... When Kristin isn't teaching and/or performing she can often be found spending time with her fluffy corgi, Wallace.
