For the past twenty-five years, Steve has been performing in clubs, festivals and recording studios. His versatility has allowed him to work in many different genres of music. Some of the artists Steve has performed and recorded with include: George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi, Greg Osby, Rufus Reid, NDR Bigband, Miguel Zenon, Donny Mccaslin, Jason Palmer, Mike Renzi, David Hazeltine, Gray Sargent, Bill Pierce, Luis Perdomo, Antonio Sanchez, Howard Alden, Leo Genovese, Helio Alves, Herb Pomeroy, Anat Cohen, Avishai Cohen, Nat Reeves, Jay Azzolina, Frank Lacy, Jim Rotondi; jazz vocalists Shawnn Moneiro, Mark Murphy, Rebecca Paris, Lauren Kinhan (NY Voices), Dominique Eade, Mili Bermejo and Luciana Souza; modern jazz groups Enclave, the Jinga Trio and The Kevin Harris Project, among many others. Steve has also worked with country singer John Carter Cash, comedians Joe Piscopo and Joan Rivers.

Steve has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Albania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, China, South Korea, Oman and Austria. He has recorded soundtracks for National Geographic, Sesame Street and the Miramax film, Next Stop Wonderland (Verve label). Most recently, Steve has performed with the Boston Pops under Keith Lockhart.

A dedicated music educator, Steve has written and published three books on the subject of rhythms and polyrhythms. Steve is a member of the performing faculty at Wellesley College, the University of Rhode Island, and Berklee College. Steve can also be found on over fifty recordings as a sideman and four recordings as a leader. Steve endorses Canopus Drums, Bosphorus Cymbals and Vic Firth Sticks.
