Elizabeth Ferrer ’80 and Sandra Riaño ’21 #timeisacircle
- Alumnae
They transferred to Wellesley 40 years apart. Elizabeth, from L.A., for a more rigorous art history program; Sandra, from Long Island, to study the presence of Latinos in American history. Neither knew of the other. Then, Sandra attended the launch of Elizabeth’s book—Latinx Photography in the United States: A Visual History —at the Whitney Museum in New York City. For the first time, she saw Latinx art and artists studied with serious passion. When Sandra realized Elizabeth was a Wellesley alum, she also realized this: Elizabeth had carved the path on which she currently walked. Which is to say: Wellesley alums are a legacy that students inherit. Which is to say: At Wellesley, time is really a circle… and your Wellesley community will be there for life.
