My high school best friend back in Oregon died by suicide the summer before my senior year. As a way to cope with my grief, I signed up for the Boston Samaritans Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention. My group of friends (the “Pommies,” because we all met our first year living on the first floor of Pomeroy Hall) decided to join, though none of them had known my friend. I went to pick them up for the event outside of Stone Davis, and as they poured out of the front door I saw that they had all printed out a picture of me and my friend from my Facebook page and taped it to the front of their shirts. I’ve never felt more loved than I did at that moment.
