The email that changed my life didn’t come in a glamorous moment. I was replacing the corroded pipes under my kitchen sink, checking yet another DIY video on YouTube, when I learned an editor named Claire Cheek at Macmillan was interested in publishing the novel I’d been working on for years. I couldn’t believe it! I was even more excited when I discovered Claire was Wellesley ’21. We both studied with Dan Chiasson. We love color-coded spreadsheets and messy, analytical books about messy, analytical women. But our connection is deeper than that. All of us carry Wellesley in how we move through the world, and ensure our passions and commitments bring forth our best work. Any time I get plumbing advice on Wellesley Nails It, or ask another Wellesley author for guidance, I’m reminded of how much this community has given me—whether in everyday moments, or a once-in-a-lifetime surprise.
